Search & Rescue Dogs and Earthquake in Haiti

G’day Mates! Search and rescue dog teams were rushed from California to Haiti to locate earthquake victims trapped under rubble. As of the last report Doggy Dundee checked on January 16, 2010, three girls were located alive under four feet of concrete rubble by the search dogs. Check this Haiti dog search link for updates.

Chase is very proud of these search and rescue dogs and their handlers, and very happy people are being helped – Chase loves kids, so the story of the rescue of these girls really set her tail wagging.

Doggy Dundee urges everyone to contribute what they can to the Haitian rescue and relief effort. According to official sources, the best contribution is money coz it can be easily converted into the particular supplies needed to keep things moving.

Are Chase Krulikowski & Bo Obama Related?

G’day mates! I know Chase and I normally chat about stray dogs, lost dogs, shelter dogs, found dogs, and Chase (as well as doltish doggy owners), but we’re breaking with “standard operating procedure” for a bit of First Dog, Bo Obama fun. I’m wondering if Chase and Bo related – Afterall, they’re black and white and READ all over!

Bo

Bo

White House dog Bo is a pedigreed pooch who was returned by a previous owner and wagged (or wrangled?) his way into the White House; So, while I wouldn’t exactly categorize Bo as a “homeless dog” for those moments where his fate hung in the balance, I would say Bo is a dog destined for greatness, and a dog who knows how to get what he wants — And don’t we want that for all (errr, ‘lost’) dogs?

Chase and I enjoyed reading the White House Dog blog written by dogtime.com about the nation’s “First Dog” – Bo. The blog is entitled Obama’s Dog: Tails from the White House Lawn. We scrolled down and particularly appreciated the short 8/27/09 posting about Senator Kennedy (who introduced this Portugese Water Dog to the Prez family and gifted the pup their way).

Also, according to a September 1, 2009 CBS.com news story (entitled “Bo Obama’s Busy White House Dog Days,” ) among many other events, “He (Bo) won a Teen Choice Award for celebrity pet, besting Adam Sandler’s bulldog Matzo Ball and Ashton Kutcher’s Chihuahua Vida Blue, among other candidates. Obama introduced him as the “’star of the family” at a luau on the South Lawn.” This White House dog poochy must be “hot” to get that kind of praise and get away with things like this: Bo chews magazines, the President’s sneakers, and jogs in the evening with the Prez, who picks up the First Dog’s poop in sight of the well-lit, majestic White House in the background (“It’s quite a moment,” Barack tells the press).

And if you’re more the scientific inquiry type, you might want to know what “experts” mean when they say Bo Obama has “mutant genes” by checking the ABC News Medical Unit report.

Chase and Bo to Meet?

Chase is (patiently) awaiting her invitation to the White House to meet Bo, her soon-to-be best friend. First dog Bo Obama has his own mailbox at the White House (sorry, no email account), so why not write to Bo (postcards are good and inexpensive) and urge the First Dog to extend an invitation for a private luncheon and playtime together at the White House. There’s lots of issues facing dogs nationwide that Chase really wants to discuss with Bo. Address your letters/postcards to: Bo Obama, White House, 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., Washington, D.C. 20500.  Bo can contact Chase at info@doggydundee.com or write a snail mail letter to Chase Krulikowski (“Hey, Bo pal”), P.O. Box 865, Talent, OR 97540.
